The fusion of African traditional music and instruments to sporting activities have been described by analysts as a boost and catalyst to a more healthier lifestyle than the use of western music in
such activities.

That was the sound of Ogene music during the Anambra state walk for life leisure exercise which was used to inspire vigour and dancing among those who participated in the about ten kilometres walk, which confirms need to infuse local music to sporting activities to add a level of boost .

A Sports enthusiast, Mr. Obinna Okeke noted that dancing is a form of sporting activity and using music in sports makes it easy, fun and participatory and was of the view that traditional music such as ogene acts as a moral booster to healthy exercise hence the infusion of it in the walk for life leisure exercise.

Mr. Okeke added that the ogene music was also a way of showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Africa especially Ndi Igbo while making the youths conscious of their root and heritage.

In their separate remarks, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Mr. Emeka Egbutu and another participant in the walk for life leisure exercise, Barrister Uche Egwu, agreed that exercise needs what will spur it to performance, which the local music through ogene has proven to do noting that other climes of the world will soon buy into it as African music is ruling the world at the moment.
