Deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Nkem Okeke has felicitated with
the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu community, Njikoka Local
Government Area, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh and wife, Okpueze Lady Dora Ekpeh on
their fiftieth Wedding anniversary.
Deputy Governor Okeke who described fifty year marriage as commendable
journey, thanked God for sustaining the couple till date, and wished
them more celebrations ahead.
Dr. Okeke called on young couples to always ask for forgiveness from
spouse when necessary and to love, forgive, and support each other at
all times.
In various interviews, the Member Representing Njikoka and
Anaocha Federal Constituency, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo, and the
Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, congratulated the
celebrants, and wished them well.
Earlier in a sermon, the Bishop of Ihiala Diocese, Right Reverend
Israel Okoye while commending the couple for facing their challenges
all these years, described them as role models in marital affairs, and
encouraged the children to toe their steps.
He however called on Christian couples to allow the love of God to
reign in their families.
The anniversary celebration kick started with thanksgiving mass at
Immanuel Anglican Church Enugwu-Ukwu, where the Archbishop, Province
of the Niger and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander
Ibezim led the couple to renew their marriage vows.
Rendition by the choir added glamour to the event where the couple
thanked God Almighty for keeping them together in love and unity since
1969 and blessing their union with five children and ten grand
children.
