Anambra state government has organized a one-day training and interactive session for critical stakeholders in power and agricultural sectors on alternative power supply and export market support.

This is in line with its efforts towards ensuring twenty-four hour power supply and maintaining the status of the state as an agro products exporting state.

Government House Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the event held in Agulu, Anaocha Council Area, through the office of the Deputy Governor aimed at addressing critical issues facing the power sector, preservation of agricultural products, and exportation of the products to other parts of the world to create wealth both for the industrialists and the state.

Addressing the participants, Governor Willie Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke identified power as the major challenge facing industries in the state at the moment, hence the need for the various steps already taken by his administration to achieve twenty-four hour uninterrupted power supply for the state through alternative power supply methods.

Governor Obiano revealed the readiness of the government to partner private bodies that would help in making things easier for industrialists in the state as it concerns power supply.

On his part, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization and Export, Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba listed some of the farm produce that Anambra state through the agriculture ministry now export to other countries of the world, including vegetables, varieties of yam tubers, palm oil, spices, horticultural products, among others, and pointed out that the actualization of the alternative power supply initiative will in no small measure help in the preservation of the products, especially the perishable ones.

In an address, the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne disclosed that the Governor Willie Obiano government is making a lot of efforts to ensure two-four-seven uninterrupted power supply in the state, which will be carried out in partnership with various private organizations, and expressed hope that the outcome of the one day interactive section will contribute to the actualization of the fulfillment of the power supply needs of the state.

Various resource persons educated the participants on how to enjoy alternative power supply and exportation of their locally made products to other parts of world.

COVID-19 safety measures were strictly observed during the event which attracted industrialists from across the state.
