Dr Ekwueme Urges Igbo Business Community To Make Trust And Honesty Their Watchword

A former Vice President Dr Alex Ekwueme has described trust and honesty as hallmarks of a good businessman.

Dr Ekwueme was speaking at a Southern Conference and Traders Summit as well as recognition of the best traders and Commercial entrepreneurs in the fifty-seven major markets in the State, organized by Anambra consensus project at Amaokpala in Orumba North Local Government Area.
The Anambra Consensus project is a non-governmental organization that strives to create formidable associations and relationships among Ndi Anambra and Anambra residents thereby giving the organization the ability to gather information from the people, bring relevant issues before the people for awareness, understanding and decision making and as such breeds a dynamic interaction to foster the drive for a better positive, conducive and patriotic way of life in the state.
Dr Ekwueme said that the trust and honesty which Ndigbo were known for in the olden days, have presently eroded the Igbo business community and advised traders to make trust and honesty their watchword in all their transactions.
The former Vice President who pointed out that Ndigbo were known for entrepreneurship urged them to ensure that their talents are used to boost the economic base of the South East geo-political zone, even in the face of the current economic recession.
In a remark, Governor Willie Obiano represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, praised the
initiators of the project for their foresight and urged the Award recipients to continue to maintain good virtues at all times.
Governor Obiano who disclosed that he has tackled holistically the issue of insecurity in the state, assured that his administration will continue to assist traders to thrive.
Earlier, the President of the association, Prince Emeka Eze, disclosed that out of the fifty seven major markets in the state, the smallest of them makes a daily turn-over of fifteen million naira while the largest, nets an average of two hundred and sixty million naira daily, adding that the best traders will receive certificates of recognition in addition to enjoying huge opportunities in trade and commerce globally.
Two of the recipients, Chief Felix Okpalakunne and Mrs Nnenne Ejimbe, assured that they will continue to do their businesses with honesty, truth and diligence.
Presentation of certificate of recognition to the Awardees by former Vice President, Dr Ekwueme, was the high point of the event.
