International communities and Nigerians in the daispora have been asked to invest in the country for economic diversification.


The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, who made the call at the sixth Meeting of Nigeria and Germany Binational Commission’s Political Working Group in Abuja says Germany’s involvement in the power sector in Nigeria will motivate other important investors to support businesses in Nigeria.


Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau reports that Minister Onyeama who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhajji Mustapha Suleiman acknowledged the support of Germany in various developmental projects in Nigeria.


The Foreign Affairs Minister noted that though Nigeria is presently witnessing an upsurge in terrorist activities, it is mindful of the concerns expressed by the Germans on the global and regional terrorism and human rights issues including the minors.


He assured that Nigeria is committed to finding lasting solution to the insecurity challenges, pointing out that Nigeria requires concerted efforts and cooperation of subregional neighbours and the international Community to address the challenges posed by Boko Haram insurgency.


Also speaking, the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Birgitt Ory, stressed that the German Chamber of Commerce in Abuja and the German Nigeria Chamber of Commerce are indications that the two countries are working out ways to deepen economic diplomacy so as to succeed.


The Director General for African Latin America, and Middle East, Dr. Philipp Ackermann said Germany is interested in relating with Nigeria because it is the biggest economy in West Africa, home of ECOWAS and the performing region.
