The wife of the state governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has called on pregnant women in the state to avail themselves opportunity for proper antenatal care to prevent complications and reduce the rate of maternal mortality in the state.
Chief Mrs. Obiano made the call during her visit to Aguata and Aniocha Health centres to distribute Mama's kits to pregnant women who have properly completed their antenatal.
Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano who was represented by the Executive Secretary Primary Health care Development Agency, Doctor Mrs. Chioma Ezeenyimulu, said the essence of the visit was to educate and enlighten pregnant women on the importance of antenatal, as many are still oblivious of the implications of neglecting it which according to her has led to complications or death before, during or after child birth.
Chief Mrs. Obiano, who restated the efforts and commitments of the present administration to ensure good health and well-being of Ndi Anambra, urged the pregnant women to always go for medical check up, and sleep under insecticide treated net, as according to her it would reduce the rate of maternal mortality to the barest minimum.
Describing the good health of the state residents as the paramount target of the present administration, Osodieme, said it would renovate and equip all the sixty- three health care centres in the state.
In their votes of thanks, a former Commissioner for Education, Mrs Uju Okeke, who spoke on behalf of pregnant women in Aniocha council area, and her Aguata counterpart, Mrs. Ogochukwu Uba, expressed happiness on the kind gesture of the governor's wife, endorsing governor Obiano's second term.
Highlight of the event was distribution of the mama's kits which contains mosquito nets, Pampas, rappers, among others, to the pregnant women by Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano.
