About five hundred members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo local government area have defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance,
APGA because of the good governance of the Obiano administration
Receiving the PDP decampees, the state chairman of APGA, Sir Nobert Obi,expressed optimism in the capability of his party to retain power after this year's gubernatorial election in the state.
Sir Nobert predicated his optimism on what he described as the unprecedented delivery of democracy dividends by the APGA government under the watch of Governor Willie Obiano.
He also observed that APGA is the only political party in the country today that has made Ndigbo to remain relevant and respected as a people with a sense of direction and purpose in the Nigerian politcal affairs.
Explaining the reasons behind the decision of his group to decamp to APGA, their leader, Chief Willie Ngonadi said that they are highly impressed with the sterling performance of Governor Willie Obiano in less than three years in office.
Chief Ngonadi, on behalf of the decampees pledged their unalloyed loyalty to APGA and vowed to contribute immensely to the re-election bid of Governor Obiano.
For his part, the state chairman of the Willie Obiano Support Group Chief Jude Emecheta, who is also a native of Ozubulu, disclosed that there is an ongoing patriotic subtle move to rejuvenate the conviviality and mutual cooperation between Governor Obiano and the APGA hierarchy on the one hand and former Governor Peter Obi on the other.
Chief Emecheta maintained that no stone should be left unturned to sustain the peace and stability as well as the consistent impressive democracy dividends being delivered by APGA controlled governments in the state in the past ten years.
Other party faithful who spoke on the occasion included the Ekwusigo local government area chairman of the party, Chief Ikechukwu Obidiugwu, a former transition chairman of the local government area, Barrister Austin Enendu and the Special Assistant to the governor on media for grassroots mobilization, Mr. Egbuna Amuta among others.
The event also featured the formal registration and issuance of APGA membership cards to the decampees.
