Governor Willie Obiano has presented two 14-seater IVM buses to the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA. The Governor made the presentation at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The buses which were one apiece for NTA Channel 5, Awka and NTA Channel 35, Onitsha, were in fulfillment of the Governor’s earlier promise to assist the stations in serving Ndi Anambra better through improved media service delivery.

Presenting the buses, Governor Obiano said effective information dissemination and communication is critical in mobilizing the citizenry to play active role in governance.

Stressing the role of the Media in disseminating government information and generating feedback from the governed as to how policies and programmes of government have affected them, Governor Obiano said his administration is committed to support media outfits in the state to improve on their operations.

He called on the benefiting stations to put the vehicles into proper use in ensuring that the information needs of Ndi Anambra are met.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Mrs Uju Nworgu explained that the gesture was part of the present administration’s initiative at intensifying the effectiveness of its information communication processes.

She acknowledged that with the ongoing efforts by Governor Obiano towards repositioning ABS for greater exploits, through the construction of world class studios for its Radio and TV arms, the station will be better poised to compete favourably with its contemporaries the world over.

Responding, the General Manager of NTA Awka, Mr Ukwu Ogbonnaya-Ukwu who was represented by the station’s Manager, News and Current Affairs, mrs Genevieve Nwedo-Nzeribe thanked the Governor for the gesture and assured that they will put the vehicles to proper use.

Highpoint were commissioning of the buses as well as handing over of the keys to the vehicles to the respective beneficiaries.
