Governor Willie Obiano has described Knowledge, Education and youth development as catalysts for nation building.

He spoke at the Maiden Conference of School of General studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka..

Governor Obiano, who asked students to upgrade themselves with requisite knowledge and skills in order to succeed in life, admonished them to always imbibe the right character and discipline.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, Governor Obiano noted that the knowledge he garnered, brought him to lime light, describing education as the best legacy parents can bequeath to their children.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics of  the University, Professor Charles Esomonye, described University education as a rare opportunity for the younger ones, urging them to jettison past mistakes, shun bad company and build their future.

The Director of General Studies of the institution, Reverend Father Professor Josephat Oguejiofor acknowledged the ongoing transformation, propelled by the Obiano administration and manifested in the development of Awka capital territory.

In a keynote speech, Professor Agbakoba, called for a legislation where basic products of the land can be used to promote the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Igbo.

Former Governor Peter Obi, University Management and staff, among others graced the occasion.

Award presentations also featured during the conference, which has its theme as General Studies, Foundation for a Rounded Tertiary Education.
