Communities that benefited from state government water scheme have been enjoined to take adequate possession and protection of the projects.
The special assistance to the governor on power and domestic water resources Engineer Victor Meju gave the charge in a chat with ABS in Awka.
Engineer Meju who explained that governor Obiano expended huge resources to ensure that the projects were completed and commissioned at Ihiala, Igbariam, Umunze and Ajali, Ufuma water regional schemes enjoined stakeholder in these communities to ensure that the people of the area reap the benefits of the schemes.
Engineer Meju enjoined the Town Union Executives of the communities to arrange for community based vigilante in conjunction with the Local Government Administration to protect the facilities while there should be wider reticulation, so that every house hold will have easy access to tap water.
Our reporter Nneka Ibe Anoliefo who filed the story quoted Engineer Meju are saying that any project completed and commissioned by government does no longer reside in the hand of government but the benefiting community, which should ensure proper maintenance and protection of the projects from hoodlums, miscreants and unauthorized person.
