A resource person at the just concluded 2016 Anambra State Executive Council Retreat, Professor Charles Ofoegbu has asked the State government to explore the very rich Solid Mineral Deposits in the State for overall development of the State.

Professor Charles Ofoegbu recently gave the advice at a retreat in Awka.

Addressing the retreat, the Professor of Applied Geophysics regretted that in a bid to diversify the State economy in the face of the present economic realities a lot of the raw materials which can be easily sourced locally are usually imported, just for a short term profit when the abundant solid minerals in the State can increase its revenue base.

Professor Ofoegbu who cited Anambra on the solid Minerals’ map in Nigeria, identified the State as rich in clay, glass sand, kaolin, limestone, aggregates, bentonite, aluminum, among others, scattered in various parts of the State, including, Ukpor, Aguleri, Ogbunike, among others, which according to him, can be put into many industrial purposes.

He called on the State government, individuals, as well as companies within and outside the State to take advantage of such opportunity that can be translated into wealth.
