The state House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the commissioner for Road, Railway and water Transport to include the Onitsha Ozubulu Ihiala Amorka route in the Anambra mass Transit Bus scheme, popularly Known as “Willie is working”.
The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored by the member representing Ekwusigo constituency, Mr Onyebuchi Offor and Twenty eight others during plenary in Awka.
Mr. Offor explained that Governor Obiano has demonstrated that the welfare of the citizenry of is paramount to his administration by putting in place the Anambra Mass Transit Bus scheme to ease the cost of transportation in the state.
The law maker expressed optimism that when the buses ply Onitsha – Ozubulu- Ihiala- Amorka route, it will reduce the costs of public transport, thereby giving the people of the area a sense of belonging.
In his contribution, the member representing Ogbaru one constituency Sir Benson Nwawulu also urged Governor Obiano to include Obodoukwu, Atani route in the second phase of the Anambra mass transport Bus scheme to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
The member representing Anambra East constituency, Mr. Obinna Emenaka, his Awka south one constituency counterpart, Dr Nnamdi Okafor and the member for Orumba North constituency, Mr. Romans Obi who described the Anambra Mass transit Bus scheme as a welcome development adding that extending the buses to Onitsha – Ozubulu- Ihiala – Amorka route will generate more income for the state.
The speaker pretempore, Chief Victor Okoye who presided over plenary read the resolution.
The House later adjourned to Tuesday next week.
