Governor Willie Obiano says his government is committed to improving the welfare of workers as a way of motivating them for increased productivity.

He made this known when he embarked on a social visit to the headquarters of the Local Government Service Commission in Awka.
  Governor Obiano who said workers are critical to the growth and development of the state, stressed the need for the Local Government workers to have right attitude to work.
 He noted that as part of its efforts to encourage the workers to be at their best in their various areas , his government has continued to support workers through training and re-training for optimal result, prompt payment of salaries and other benefits as well as provision of seasonal largesse to them.

The governor urged the workers to reciprocate government’s gesture by putting in their best in what they do,  assuring them that he will review their salaries upwards if the state IGR improves.
 The State Chairman, Local Government Service Commission Dr Peter Egenti revealed that the Commission has set a strategic plan anchored on two pillars of discipline and productivity as well as a robust transformation and regulatory framework for re-orientation, reorganisation, monitoring and sanctions to guide the workers in the path of productivity.
  In their separate remarks,  the State Chairman,  Comrade Jerry Nnubia and the Chairperson, Heads of Local Government Administration China Ikelie harped on the need for more recruitment into the local government administrative system which was last done 15 years ago, thanking Governor Obiano for his positive disposition towards the state workforce.
