The state House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging the Executive Arm of government to direct the chairman, Anambra state physical planning Board to take urgent measures towards forestalling the in discriminate construction of petrol filling stations within densely populated areas.

The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored by the member representing Dunkofia constituency, Chief Lawrence Ezendu and others during plenary in Awka.
Chief Ezeudu who is also the Chief whip explained that due diligence and continuous in inspection of approved building plans by the Anambra state physical planning Board was needed to avoid construction of petrol station within densely populated areas.
The lawmaker expressed worry that the lives and valuable properties of nearby residents are at great risk in the event of any fire out break owing to the highly inflammably nature of most of those petroleum products.
He noted that construction of petrol filling stations within densely populated areas does not conform with international best practices and safety standards and also negates existing environmental laws and regulations.
The Deputy speaker, Chief Hafford Oseke who presided over plenary read the resolution of the House. Also at plenary, the House passed another resolution urging the Executive Arm of Government to direct the ministry or agency responsible for installation of sign post in the state to remove the misleading road sign post at Nibo market junction and replace it with encompassing road sign post.
The member representing Orumba North constituency, Mr Romanus Obi who raised the motion explained that the sign post only shows direction to Agu- Awka Mbakwu and Agulu, leaving out the road leading to Umuawulu and a spur to Odor River bridge, Amaokpala.
