Governor Willie Obiano says his administration will continue to accord utmost priority to the development of education in the state.

Governor Obiano disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the annual principal’s retreat held at Madonna Renewal centre Nkpor.
Declaring the retreat open, Governor Obiano represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Dr Beatrice Okonkwo appreciated the principals for their efforts in implementing government’s educational policies and programmes which has placed the state above other states in academic, character formulation among other things.
Governor Obiano who noted that his administration will never relent in implementing its three cardinal educational trust which are teachers and students welfare and infrastructural development enumerated some of his achievement so far to include equipping of secondary school science laboratories in the state, payment of incentives to some teachers, accreditation of courses in the government technical school.
He charged the principals to internalize and it translate into action all they have learnt in their various schools.
Earlier in an address, the state chairman post- primary schools service commission lady Joy Ulasi who paid glowing tribute to governor Willie Obiano developmental strides in all sector of the state economy especially the education sector said that the retreat was aimed at addressing administrative strategies in teaching and learning, update on Knowledge of ICT, financial management in public and mission schools with emphasis on illegal levies collection, implication and punishment among others.
Also speaking, the state chairman Nigeria Union of teachers comrade Ifeanyi Offordile described the retreat as apt and called on principal’s to work according to their motto which is service and justice even as he commended Governor Willie Obiano for his prompt payment of workers’ salaries in the state.
In their separate remarks, the chairman Anambra state universal basic education Board (ASUBEB) Chief Nzemeka Olisa and the director schools and education quality assurance (PPSSC) Dr Bibian Okoli enjoined the participants to ensure that the outcome of the retreat will be maximally utilized.
The one week retreat which has principals of all the secondary schools in the state in attendance has its theme as “teacher quality, a tool for sustainable Human capital Development”.
