Against the supposed eight hundred and sixty mega watts of electricity, Nigeria is at present, generating only about one hundred and seventy-seven megawatts.

This is attributable to vandalisation of gas pipelines, and transformers by hoodlums.
Two staff of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, who were guests on the ABS phone in program, Kpochapu, addressed the issue of power outage within the state as reported by our correspondent.
Mr Maureen Onyeonwu, the EEDC Communications Manager in charge of Awka District, called on power consumers to inculcate the habit of energy conservation while safeguarding the power assets within their locality or call 07037537387 or 07036978345 for enquires.
Mrs Onyeonwu commended the Anambra State Government for the provision of adequate security, and thanked Ndi Anambra for their co-operation.
Taking his turn, Mr Chiedozie Onyearugbulem, the EEDC Communication Manager for Onitsha District, maintained that EEDC follows appropriate billing methodology as they do not bill their customers outside the regulated conditions and for power not used.
He, however, appealed to power consumers to pay for their service as and when due and channel their complaints to the appropriate quarters.
Some of the callers, Ezeji from Agulu Uzigbo, Maduka, Emma Aniedo from Nkpor, Mrs Efeobi from Awka, amongst others who lodged various complaints, called for constant power supply to their areas.
