Three suspects have been arrested by operatives of the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly vandalizing electrical cable at Agu Awka power line.

Parading the suspects at the Corps Headquarters in Awka, the State commander, Mr. Godwin Omoregie cautioned youths to shun all forms of crime and criminality to avoid derailing their future.

The suspects are, Nnamdi Nweke, a welder apprentice from Awka, Chibuzor Mouto, an orange seller from Awka and Ikechukwu Okafor, a groundnut seller from Achalla, Awka North.

Commander Omoregie said the suspects were cutting up the cables with saws in a bush at Agu Awka around midnight last Sunday when operatives of the corps on patrol heard noise in the bush and went to investigate and on sighting them, the suspects took to heels and one of them was apprehend who later led them to arrest the other two suspects while another suspects was still at large.

He called on Traditional Rulers, Presidents General and other members of various communities to provide timely and useful information that would enable the corps protect critical infrastructure in different areas and commended the cooperation received from the public so far.

Commander Omeregie explained that cooperation and strong synergy among security agencies in the state have enhanced effective and efficient crime fighting across the state and extolled Governor Willie Obiano for the support and encouragement given to security agencies; in the state.
In their separate reactions, the suspects claimed that they were lured into the deal by one Ezike from Awka who is still at large. Two saw tools were recovered from the suspects.
