Governor Willie Obiano says the road through Enugwu-Ukwu to the express way, currently under construction will be open for use this Christmas.
Governor Obiano gave the assurance while accessing the level of work on the road.
On arrival, bulldozers and grading machines were seen, working on the road, even as efforts are being intensified by the contractors to make it motor-able, as several demolitions have already been made.
From the bridge to the old road by Enugwu-Ukwu is already accessible.
The Governor who stressed the importance of the road to his administration said that the construction is in keeping with his promise of massive road construction all over the State after the rainy season, expressing optimism that though the road will not be fully asphalted by christmas, it will ease transportation problems for the people of the area.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, the Governor assured of even construction of roads in Communities of the State based on available finances.
The Governor called for support assuring that affected structures will be compensated as long as such structures does not in any way encroach on the road going by the original map.
Recall that the Enugwu-ukwu road is one of the roads flagged off by the present administration on inception last year, but work on it was stopped, pending the coming of the dry season.
