The Governor’s wife, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano says the State government will continue the appreciate contributions of well-meaning Nigerians towards the welfare of the less privileged in the society.

Chief Mrs Obiano made the remark while playing host to the wife of the Chief of Army Staff and National President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, Mrs   Unma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai and her entourage comprising army officer’s wives at the Governor’s lodge, Amawbia.
The Governor’s wife extolled the humane disposition of the Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) towards the down trodden members of the society which she observed is line with the programmes of her CAFÉ initiative.

Chief Mrs Obiano highlighted some of the achievements of the CAFÉ project to include but not limited to training and empowerment of over two thousand five hundred women and youths, building of over fifteen houses for indigent widows, sinking and handing over of more than fifteen boreholes in different communities of the state, sponsoring of children with congenital mouth disorders for surgery.
Mrs Buratai had earlier explained that the visit to the state is a spill-over effect of the Nigerian Army Officer’s annual meeting which was held at Owerri, Imo State.

She said the wives decided to extend support to the Governor’s wife in her commitment to the welfare of the less privileged, praising her for what she has been doing in the state as it affects the down trodden.

Correspondent, Ifeanyi Nwosu reports that the highpoints included visit to Model Motherless Babies Home/Day Care Centre, Awka as well as Saint Charles Borrowmeo Hospital Onitsha where varieties of food items and Hospital equipment were donated.
