The State Government has presented Certificate of Recognition to the newly elected traditional ruler of Owerre Ezukala, in Orumba South Council Area Igwe Thomas Ogbonna.
The Governor Obiano while presenting the certificate urged Igwe Ogbonna to use his royal position to bring lasting peace and unity to his community and to ensure that the people are duly carried along in the leadership processes.
The Governor advised the Owerre Ezukala people to always support the new traditional ruler as such will help boost development and further enhance collaboration between the state government and the community.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Chief Greg Obi explained that the IGWE Ogbonna was elected in 2014, but his endorsement and recognition by the state government were delayed due to long awaited adjudication.
He disclosed that Igwe Ogbonna had scaled every screening to be crowned the traditional ruler, hence the certificate presentation and expressed the hope that with the Certificate, he will work with the State government so as to attract tangible development to the community.
Responding, Igwe Ogbonna thanked the state government for recognizing him, saying he would operate all inclusive system of leadership that will project the community in a positive light.
Highlight was presentation of certificate to Igwe Ogbonna as well as performances by a cultural troupe from the community.
