Friends and relatives of the Okonkwo family of Ezennaja Amada Village, Oraukwu over the weekend joined the family to celebrate the 80th birthday anniversary of their mother, Mrs Pauline Ozoemena Okonkwo.

It was an event that celebrated God’s rare gift of longevity with sound health as the Children of the celebrant, Mrs Okonkwo, gave her what could be best described as a treat of a lifetime.
Accompanied by her children, grandchildren, friends and inlaws, the Octogenarian commenced the celebration with a thanksgiving mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Oraukwu before proceeding for a grand reception organized in her honour at Chief RJN Okonkwo’s Compound, Ezennaja Amada Village, Oraukwu in Idemili North Council Area.

The event also attracted dignitaries including the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye and his predecessor, Chief Victor Umeh, members of the Bar and Bench from within and outside the state among others.
Deputy Governor, Dr Okeke in a goodwill message, said it is only God that gives long life but acknowledged that life can be very enjoyable when one is blessed with lovely children and family.
He commended one of the sons of the celebrant, Dr Theodore for his contributions towards the growth and development of the state, pointing out that it is not surprising that he has achieved so much in life considering his background.
In their separate remarks, the APGA National Chairman, Chief Oye and his predecessor, Chief Umeh who were amazed at the sound health of the celebrant, described her as a woman of faith who has through her true Christian lifestyle trained up her children the godly way.
Some of the Children of the celebrant including her first son, Bar Tadas, the second son, Dr Theodore and the first daughter, Mrs Uchechukwu Odunaike acknowledged that they are blessed to have such a godly woman as their mother and extolled her virtues of resilience, industry and uprightness praying God to grant her many more years of sound health and happiness.

Responding, the Celebrant, Mrs Okonkwo while thanking God for the gift of Longlife and lovely children who have over the years proved to be bundle of joy to her, thanked all who came to celebrate with her and prayed Him to reward them immensely.
Chanting of Birthday songs, presentation of gifts, cutting of birthday cake as well as Dance by the celebrant formed the highpoints of the event.
