State government says, work will commence at the Enugwu-ukwu General Hospital in the next two months.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this at the fifty ninth Igu Aro Enugwu-ukwu held at the Obu Engwu-ukwu na Umunri.
Governor Obiano who said  his administration has been trying its best to reposition the various communities across the State for the common good of all,
disclosed that refurbishing the Enugwu-ukwu General hospital is one of the strategic projects of his government.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, the Governor reminded the people of the ongoing work at the Enugwu-ukwu bye pass road to expressway, which he said is being done to standard, as drainages are  being constructed on both sides of the road, and urged everyone whose fences were affected to bear with the government.

Assuring that his government will always ensure that what is due to them gets to them, Governor Obiano pointed out that he counts on their support, for him to continue his good works, as the new year promises to be better than the previous year.

Earlier, after performing the traditional breaking of kolanut, the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpe, who thanked God for keeping everyone alive to witness the Igu Aro, praised the giant strides of the present administration in all sectors.
Igwe Ekpe who announced that the popular Ezi Elias will now be known as Ezi Okpala Nri, as an effiggee of the Okalakananri will be mounted at the junction, prayed for progress, success, and unity in the community.
The Obu witnessed a colourful convergence of crowd of representatives from villages in Enugwu-ukwu and friends, such as Traditional Rulers from different Communities, former APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, former Governor Peter Obi, member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, former Governor of Bayelsa, Chief Timipriye Sylvia, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, among others.

The event took a new turn when a man called Dilim Okafor whose 90th birthday falls on the Igu Aro day, was presented to the people, and given a gift by Igwe Ekwe, who stressed the essence of the Ito Ogbo in the Community and why people should participate.

Ijele masquerade display, as well as dancing of the traditional ikolo by the Governor were highpoints of the event.
