The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ihiala magisterial district has granted bail to two women, Odinaka Aloka aged fifty four and Ngozi Nicodemus aged forty two who were arraigned for
allegedly stealing four male children alongside others who are currently at large in July last year.
The abducted children, Yohana Dalla, Eric Simon, Emmanuel Okwuchukwu and Munachi Paschal are aged seven, six, seven and five respectively.
According to reports, Odinaka Aloka and others at large had allegedly lured the children from their parents, while Ngozi Nicodemus allegedly purchased one of them, Eric Simon
Granting them bail in the sum of five hundred thousand naira, with surety to be signed by husband or blood brother of the accused persons, and the traditional ruler of their communities, Magistrate Angus Nwankwo said they committed offense punishable under section 321B of the criminal code CAP 36 volume two , revised laws of Anambra state of Nigeria 1991 as amended
However, for two of the boys, Emmanuel and Munachi, allegedly recovered from the suspects said they were taken from Kano when they were very young so may no longer recognize their family members but are eager to reunite with their families.
The matron of the home, where they now live Lady Virginia Okafor, said the boys have already started schooling with other inmates at the home.
The fight against child trafficking is a very serious one and every hand must be on deck to guard against such incidences.
