Nigerian Youth have been urged to forge a common front to move the country forward.
Speaking to the ABS in Awka, the state Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross society , Professor Peter Katchy, enjoined them to shun any acts that could derail and destabilize their future.
Professor Katchy urged them to resist any attempt by politicians and some religious leaders to divide their ranks along tribal and religious lines through religious exploitation and crude political maneuver of tribal sentiments.
He regretted that some leaders who have resolved to continue to recycle themselves in public offices often give negative indoctrination that brain wash youths and encourage them to promote violence and social vices.
Professor Katchy enjoined them to use their ingenuity, vibrancy, vigour and youthful energy to initiate innovations that would engender a new dawn for the country.
He enjoined stakeholders in the country to encourage youths to volunteer in humanitarian activities, relief projects to help victims of disaster and violent conflicts as well as empower them adequately to feel that they are part of national vehicle of humanity.
Professor Kachty stressed the need to protect the youths with positive counter- narratives of national ethos and values that would promote patriotism.
Also speaking the Special Assistant to the Governor on grassroot mobilization, Sir Anthony Ugorji, enjoined youths to take advantage of the various youths empowerment programmes initiated by Governor Willie Obiano’s administration to become self reliant.
Sir Anthony noted that the present administration has given youths adequate opportunity to attain their full potential in life.
