Vehicular movement has been brought to a halt at Aroma Junction  axis of Onitsha  – Enugu  Expressway  by students of Nwafor Orizu  College of Education Nsugbe,

who are protesting against what  they call exorbitant transportation imposed on them by a transport union in the area.

The students who took off from UNIZIK Temporary site took the peaceful demonstration to Arroma Junction.

The students are carrying placards with inscriptions “The voice of Nigerian students must be heard, injury to one is injury to all, government needs Nigeria students, among others.

Speaking on  behalf of others, the state chairman JCC, National Association of Nigeria Students, Anambra state chapter, Comrade Betty Okoye lamented that a transport Union was imposed on them by people whom he described as saboteurs working against state government , thereby imposing high transport fare on them.

Comrade Okoye added that formerly, they pay fifty to seventy naira from Onitsha to the college, until the Union forced them to  pay one hundred and fifty naira.

He also said that they are equally forced to patronise a commercial bank at Egerton street Onitsha ,against the one at Holy Trinity ,which they said is closer and secure for the students.

Comrade Okoye called on government to look into the matter urgently as they have made several efforts to change the situation which yielded no result.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer B division Mr Tony Adeyi who led some policemen to control the students, charged them to be law abiding and use the proper channel to make  their agitations known, advising them not to disrupt federal or state roads as by so doing, they deprive other citizens rights of using public roads.
