State Local Government Service Commission has inaugurated a four day improved productivity policy campaign for its workers.
The improved productivity policy Campaign had workers from Five local government Areas, namely Anambra East, and West, Ayamelum, Oyi and Awka North local government Areas, in attendance.
Inaugurating the campaign, in Otuocha, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Peter Egenti, said that the packaged improved productivity strategic plan is a management approach initiated by its Board to tackle the abnormalities in the Local Government system.
He expressed optimism that the workers will imbibe the spirit of productivity as the Commission has zero tolerance for indiscipline.
In a welcome address, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East Local Government Area, Mr. Pius Ifeadi, represented by the Head of Administration in the local government, Mr. Chike Obuekwe commended the commission for its work plan, which is aimed at transforming the local government system.
In a remark the chairman of the Think Tank Committee, Mr. Tony Anadi, disclosed that the Local Government system had been characterized by experiences of low productivity, thus the need to reposition it for sustainable development.
In their contributions, some Board members, Dr. Uju Okeke, Mrs Roseline Ifezuluike and Chief Chudi Anyaeji charged the Local Government Staff to ensure active participation in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise reminding them that multiple voting and registration are punishable offence.
