The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, winner of last Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the State.

Out of a total number of four hundred and fifty seven thousand, three hundred and eleven votes cast, APGA polled a total of two hundred and thirty four thousand, and seventy one votes, followed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, with a total of ninety eight thousand, seven hundred and fifty two votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP came third with seventy thousand, two hundred and ninety three votes.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer for the gubernatorial election, and Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, Professor Zana Akpagu, stated that out of the total number of votes cast, four hundred and twenty two thousand, three hundred and fourteen were valid, while twenty six thousand four hundred and fifty seven were invalid.

He stated that Chief Obiano of APGA having scored the highest
number of votes cast in all the twenty-one local government areas of the State stands elected.
