This year’s Founder’s Day celebration by the Knights and Ladies of Saint Mulumba, Onitsha Subordinate Council promises to be a unique event and first of its kind in the history of the Order of the Knights and Ladies of St Mulumba, Nigeria. Apart from the normal thanksgiving mass, the main feature of the event focuses on the welfare of the less privileged, particularly the destitute and street beggars. Indeed, it is going to be a big day for them!
In order to make an indelible impact on the lives of the less privileged, the Knights and Ladies of Onitsha Subordinate council have concluded arrangement to dole out material gifts to a good number of them and dine with them as a sign of love and appreciation that they are also creation of God.
In fact, it has been a burden on the leadership of the Knights of Saint Mulumba, Onitsha Subordinate Council for members to embark on work of charity, hence the need for introducing the special event in the Founders’ Day celebration coming up tomorrow.
In that regard therefore, the Founder’s Day celebration is undisputedly a reflection of the good works of the late Reverend Father Abraham Ojefua, the founder of the Order of Knights of Saint Mulumba, Nigeria.
Father Ojefua’s missionary work was rooted in sound catholic principles and doctrines. It was his vision to concretize his mission and bequeath a strong legacy to the faithful which led to the formation of the Knights of St Mulumba that has attained enviable status in Nigeria with over twenty-five thousand members within and outside Nigeria.
There is no doubt that the Knights of Saint Mulumba have contributed immensely to the spiritual and material development of mankind and economies of various countries. Father Ojefua, whose feast is being celebrated tomorrow by the Knights and Ladies of KSM, Onitsha Sub-council, left a legacy of education, which he used through the mass media, to fight injustice, ignorance, anti catholic and anti social institutions.
Born on January 15, 1910 at Igueben, Edo State, Father Ojefua was ordained catholic priest at Warri on Dec 20, 1942. At the instance of the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria, Father Ojefua founded the Order of the Knights of Saint Mulumba after studying the pattern of Knighthood in Ireland, Britain and the USA. It was therefore in his bid to immortalize the heroic faith and bravery of the Ugandan martyr and patron saint of the Order of Knights of St Mulumba that Father Ojefua named the Order, Knights of Saint Mulumba, Nigeria.
Thus, the Chaplain, Grand Knight, member Knights and ladies of Knights of Saint Mulumba, Onitsha subordinate Council, heartily welcome all invited guests to this epoch making event. To God be the glory.
