Guests on the latest edition of an ABS audience participatory Programme, ISSUES, say the problems being caused by the Fulani herdsmen in different parts of the country can only be addressed if cattle rearing is seen as a private business venture.

Speaking on the latest senseless killings by the Fulani herdsmen in Benue State, where over seventy lives were lost, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Anambra State Chapter, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, noted that people must be informed properly so as to prevent the constant attacks by the Fulani herdsmen on communities, and destruction of lives and property and the people’s means of livelihood.

Chief Okeke-Ogene maintained that the Fulani herdsmen during the pre and early post independence era, were known to be carrying sticks unlike presently where they move around with sophisticated weapons and machetes.

For a management consultant and a political analyst, Mr. Michael Odumodu cattle rearing must be treated as a private business, where herdsmen should purchase a piece of land for cattle rearing to nip in the bud the issue of senseless killings by the herdsmen.

Some callers to the programme, Udogadi from Ezira, Mr Dike from Nnewi and host of others, agreed that States and her people must stand firm in stopping the menace of Fulani herdsmen.
