Culture and Tourism have been identified as catalysts for national development and big foreign earners for countries.
This was the core message at the launch of Anambra State Tourism Portal initiative in Awka.
The venue for the Anambra State Tourism Portal Initiative was like a tourist site from the beautiful environment to the energetic trilling dance steps and the beautifully dressed people and personalities.
In her keynote address, the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Stella Onuorah, pointed out that Culture and Tourism have both economic and social potential which hold major prospects in national development.
Mrs Onuorah noted that the Obiano administration has improved the tourism potential of the State through its effective security network, infrastructural development and opening up of tourist sites.
The wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting service, Mr Uche Nworah in their separate speeches noted that Anambra State has grown in leap in terms of tourism due to the enabling environment created by the Obiano administration calling on youths to harness the tourism potential of the State by identifying with their culture.
The Founder and President of the Project, Mr. Ikenna Nweke, expressed his desire to harness and showcase the rich cultural heritage and sites in the State.
The event was attended by key government functionaries, cultural ambassadors and tourists.
