The Bishop, of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim, has charged the Laity Council to always be vigilante and pray unceasingly in order to destroy works of the enemies and as well attract God’s blessings.
Right Reverend Ibezim gave the charge during the 2018 Annual Diocesan Council of Laity Retreat held at Saint Mary’s Anglican Church, Ukpo in Dunukofia Council Area.
Dwelling on this year’s theme, which is “Pray Without Ceasing,” the Bishop who described Laity Council as the body that helps in spreading the gospel to all nations and world at large, advised participants to embrace God and make Him their priority for successful ministry.
Speaking on the articles of Religion, the Archdeacon, Ukpo Archdeaconry, and Archdeacon, Awka Archdeaconry, Venerable Geoffrey Oji and Venerable C. C Mgbemena, stressed the importance of prayers in the life of every Christian, urging them to put on the armour of God in order to overcome trials and temptations .
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Diocesan Laity Council, Sir Emma Ezenwaji, lauded the Bishop and all the organizers who made the event a success.
Correspondent, Ogochukwu Okeke who was part of the retreat reports that highpoints of the service were Holy Communion, prayers for restoration, breakthrough and double proportion by Bishop Ibezim as well as special rendition by the choir.
