Christians have been reminded that they are called to serve and work so as to wear the crown of victory.

Vicar of Saint John’s Anglican Church, Okpuno, Reverend Canon Onyekachukwu Egwuone, gave the reminder in a sermon in a church service.

Reverend Egwuonwu whose sermon centred on “Carrying the Cross” said the cross is the symbol of salvation of man, noting that as Christ died on the cross to redeem man, Christians should carry the responsibilities of redeeming this generation.

He called on all to be steadfast in service, carry the cross of their lives which is living up to their expectations as Christians so as to wear the crown of victory and make the society a better place for all.

At Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Nodu-Okpuno, Reverend Father Fidelis Ezeakor, told Christians to emulate Christ, who is love and who opened his heart for all to come in so as to be saved from all immoralities and life’s challenges.

Reverend Father, Ezeakor stated that in this Lenten season, Christians should reflect love in their dealings with one another, reminding all that their body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, warning them against acts that will make the Holy Spirit to depart from them.

Also at Saint Joseph Anglican Church, G.R.A, Awka, Reverend Nzubechukwu Obiejemba, preached patience and urged Christians to stand firm and follow the footsteps of Christ, who will salvage them from all storms of life.

Meanwhile, the Archdeacon, Mgbakwu Archdeaconry and Vicar Saint Stephen’s Church, Mgbakwu, Venerable Dr. Geoffrey Muolokwu, has reminded Christians that it is only the love of Christ that can deliver his people from the many evils in the society.

Venerable Dr. Muolokwu, while calling on parents to keep check and monitor their children, prayed God to deliver his people and avail the church his mercy to stand firm in the faith in order not to be found wanting on the last day.

Prayers were offered for a peaceful nation, while thanksgiving formed the highlight of the services attended.
