Presidents General and Vigilante outfits in various communities in the state have been charged to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,

to fight against drug addiction and reduce its rate in the state.

The State Commandant of the NDLEA, Mr Sule Momodu gave the charge on ABS Radio audience participatory programme,” Drug And You” in Awka.

 

While explaining the dangerous effects of drug addiction to human health, Mr Momodu listed cannabis sativa, cocaine, marijuana, and others as some of the prosecutable drugs.

 

Mr. Mamodu noted that over two hundred copies of pamphlets titled, ”Drug and You” have been distributed in various communities to reduce the intake of hard drugs in the state, adding that the agency also extended its campaign against drug addiction in government schools which was approved by Governor Willie Obiano.

 

He, however, solicited the co-operation of community leaders to enable them win the war against illicit drug in the state, and assured informants that their identities will never be disclosed.

 

 

The NDLEA Boss said the informants can locate their office at House one, Road one Udoka Housing Estate and assured Ndi Anambra that they will do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure security of lives and property in the state.

 

Some callers to the programme, Messrs Paul from Ogbunka, Emma from Asaba, Abdulahi from Zamfara, Innocent, Chukwuma from Ifite among others, commended Mr. Momodu for educating and enlightening them on the dangers, effects and implications of taking hard drugs, and pledged to help disseminate the information and report any person found abusing drugs to law enforcement agency.
