The Nigerian AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey, NAIIS, says it will commence a house to house survey exercise on HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B and C in two weeks time.
The Technical Advisor and Zonal Coordinator Mobilization, South West and South East, Mr. Ayodele Alegbeleye disclosed this when he led a delegation of the group on a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Nze Uche Nworah in his office in Awka.
Mr. Alegbeleye, disclosed that the exercise which is aimed at ascertaining the number of people living with the diseases in the state was to help government deploy resources to improve the health status of the affected persons.
He said that the data collection will be carried out in the whole thirty six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr. Alegbeleye noted that it is for selected households and would be carried out based on the consent of the households’ head.
Describing Ndi Anambra as receptive, Mr. Alegbeleye called on the people to cooperate with the team during the data collection exercise as it is aimed at actualizing a healthier society.
He said that the group decided to partner the ABS during the exercise because of the station’s wide reach and audience despite the fact that it is a state government owned establishment.
Receiving the group, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Nze Nworah described the group’s mission as apt as it will help people especially those at the rural areas that could not access hospital for medical check know their status.
He assured them of the station’s support throughout the exercise to enlighten people on the importance, and maintained that the ABS is committed to its responsibilities of informing, educating and entertaining the public .
