It was a gathering of who is who in the society at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church Umuokpu Awka, as family members, friends and well wishers paid their last respect to late Dr Emmanuel Egbogah.
Late Dr Egbogah who died at the age of seventy five was a Petroleum Engineer, and one time Special Adviser on Petroleum to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government.
While condoling the family, the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano said he is personally saddened because the great ideas and vision the deceased had for the state were not fully actualized before his death.
Governor Obiano who described the deceased as a very prominent Nigerian whose career impacted positively on the lives of the people having served the country and state in different capacities , prayed God for peaceful repose of his soul.
Earlier in a sermon during the burial service, the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim said that late Dr Egbogah has started another journey to meet his maker and urged the congregation to lead lives that glorify God to attain salvation.
Commiserating with the family and entire Awka community, the Senator representing Anambra Central, Senator Victor Umeh said the deceased lived a life of productive service to God and humanity and touched the lives of people around him.
A former Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Chief Ben Obi said as a major player in the Oil and Gas industry, Late Dr Egbogah brought his vast Knowledge and experience to bear on the service of his country and at home, and was a man of peace who contributed to the development of the community.
In a funeral oration, the Old Boys of Dennis Memorial Grammer School DMGS, Onitsha through their National President, Sir Dr Eric Anazodo stated that late Dr Egbogah was active throughout his school days recalling that as Chairman of DMGS Endowment Fund, Late Dr Egbogah contributed in all the projects and donated first sets of computer to the school.
While thanking God and all who contributed to the success of the burial, the first son of the deceased, Dr Emeka Egbogah said that all the legacies left behind by their father would be upheld.
Late Dr Egbogah was later committed to mother earth in his compound while condolences formed the highpoints of the ceremony.
