The State Capital City of Awka yesterday, played host to who is who in APGA as the party held its retreat ahead of the Primary elections coming up this month.
The APGA retreat which also featured a book presentation, had as its theme, “APGA: The Trials, tribulations and triumphs.
Governor Willie Obiano, the Member representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Victor Umeh, former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku and other major APGA Stakeholders from all over the country were in attendance.
Also in attendance were the major participants who include all aspirants, from all over the country, from the Presidential level to the Houses of Assembly.
The event was aimed at creating the platform for interaction and networking among the aspirants as well as to educate them on their responsibilities towards their constituents and to familiarize them with the manifesto of the party.
Governor Obiano, who is the National Leader and Chairman and Chairman Board of Trustees of APGA, while noting that the aftermath of the primaries will determine the future of the party, assured that the party’s primary elections will be free, fair and transparent.
Acknowledging that the party presently has an array of competent personalities vying under its platform, Governor Obiano cautioned the aspirants against all forms of thuggery during the primaries, reminding them that it is only God that institutes leadership.
The National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye said riding on the back of the overwhelming victory of Governor Obiano in his reelection bid, the party wants to use the opportunity to engender measures that will promote internal democracy .
The Chairman on the occasion, Chief Godwin Maduka commended the party for putting together the event, and Governor Obiano for living up to positive political ideals and making Anambra an international showpiece of good governance
