State Under Fifteen Sports Team to the just concluded National Youth Games which took place in Ilorin Kwara State has returned with three gold, four silver, and seven bronze medals.

Receiving the team at the Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka, the Chairman Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr Tony Oli commended the team for winning the medals and restated the commitment of the Obiano administration to repositioning the State sports sector.

Mr Oli assured the team of better performances in subsequent national competitions as the Obiano administration will always do the needful to ensure that they improve on their skills.

In a remark, the Director of Sports in the State Sports Development Commission, Lady Faith Okwonna who is also the contingent leader of the team, thanked Governor Willie Obiano and Mr Oli for their support to the team throughout the competition.

She promised that they will do better in next year’s edition of the game as they have discovered some of their flaws which needs to be corrected.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Master Johnclinton Adile who won a gold medal in shot-put appreciated the State government for giving them the opportunity to participate in the competition with others and promised to make the state proud in future competitions.
