Nigeria is fifty-eighth years old today as an independent Nation. The country gained her independence from Great Britain on first October 1960,
during which the British union jack was lowered and Nigerians flag of Green White Green was hoisted.
Since independence, Nigeria has been governed by both military and civilian administrators.
To mark the nation’s independence, it is expected that President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation in a nationwide broadcast, while match-past involving military and paramilitary organizations and school children will take place in all the thirty-six states of the federation including the federal capital territory Abuja to mark the event.
