Governor Willie Obiano says the Nation’s fifty eight Independence anniversary calls for sober reflection.

He spoke at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka during an event to mark the Nation’s Independence anniversary.

Governor Obiano maintained that the fifty eight years existence as a country shows that Nigeria has come a long way.

He noted that every great nation passed through cycles of doubts, mutual suspicions and even civil wars including most countries in Europe and America which passed through these rugged paths to become the economic and democratic giants and expressed the hope that Nigeria will get better.

He said that the anniversary which comes barely four months before the next years general elections is therefore a very important one as 2019 is a watershed in evolution of Nigeria as a democratic country urging political leaders to always remember that Nigeria is bigger than the
private ambition of any individual no matter how highly placed.

Governor Obiano further said that his administration has established a template for democratic excellence, transformed the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, into a model democratic platform that has a robust democratic culture deeply rooted in brotherhood and progress.
