Anambra Assembly Asks LG Councils To Uphold Transparency, Accountability

The State House of Assembly Committee on public Accounts has mandated local government authorities appearing before it for the verification of their 2016 audited account to come with list of capital projects executed in the year under review.
The Committee gave the directive while verifying the 2016 budget of Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Local Government Areas.
Speaking after verification of audited account of Anaocha Local Government Area for the 2016, the Chairman, House Committee on Public
Accounts, Mr. Charcles Ezeani extolled Anaocha Local Government
Authority for keeping their financial records straight and for providing evidence for the projects they executed in 2016
Mr. Ezeani noted that when every local government authority in the state adopts the principles of transparency and accountability in
running local government affairs as exemplified by Anaocha Local
Government Authority, it will enthrone good governance at the grassroots.
In his speech, the Transition committee chairman, Anaocha Local
Government Area, Chief Ikeobi Ejiofor expressed delight at the quality of legislators in the House Committee on Public Accounts, who he said had brought innovation into local government administration in the
state.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Committee to verify
the audited accounts of Dunukofia and Njikoka Local government areas for 2016 financial year.
