The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts has charged Local Government Authorities initiate proactive measures to ensure that people at the grassroots feel the impact of good governance.
The Committee made the assertion while verifying the audited accounts of
Nnewi South, Idemili South and North Local Government areas for 2016
financial year.
The committee while verifying the audited accounts of the local
governments called for total departure from the old method of local
government administration in view of the current economic situation of
Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Charles Ezeani asked every
department in local government of the state to come up with projects that will make their local government viable and create more revenue for the state to justify the allocations they receive from government.
In a vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Nnewi South
Local Government Area, Chief Felix Odimegwu assured that they would
abide by the directive of the Committee.
