The Third Session of the Fourth Synod of Ogbaru Diocese Anglican
Communion has ended at Saint Luke’s Church Okpoko with a call on the
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to provide a level
playing field for all the political parties in the 2019 general elections.
In a fourteen point resolution, the Synod regretted that the Nation’s
democratic governance appears not to be consolidating due to lack of
transparency, accountability and genuine demonstration of leadership
capacity to protect fundamental human rights.
It blamed the high level of insecurity in the country on poor governance and lack of effective leadership at all levels, and called on the federal government to overhaul its security network to guarantee social, economic, religious and political stability.
The Third Session of the Fourth Synod of Ogbaru Diocese, while regretting that major key appointments made by the present
administration at the national level, fall short of federal character principles, stressed the need for all the six geo-political zones in the country to always be carried along in the scheme of things.
It regretted the havoc flood has continued to wreck in different
parts of the State especially in Ogbaru, and called on the federal
government to find a lasting solution to the menace by embarking on immediate and periodic dredging of the River Niger.
The resolution which was jointly signed by the President of the synod
and Bishop of Ogbaru diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, and the
Clerical Synod Secretary, Reverend Canon Joel Nwaeto, commended
Governor Willie Obiano for all his efforts to transform the State and
called for its sustenance.
The Synod which has its theme as “Beyond Conventional Christianity,
Christian’s purpose bringing blessings” , called on eligible voters in the State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, to enable them exercise their franchise during the 2019 general elections
