State Government has assured that it will care for the victims of the recent building collapse at Okpuno-Ezechukwu in Otolo Nnewi, Nnewi
North Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Housing, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne gave the assurance when he visited the scene of the incident

When the commissioner arrived the site of the collapsed building, rescue work was still ongoing amidst grief and mourning.

Mr, Ezenwanne explained that the state government will lunch full
investigation into the incident and deal decisively with those involved in the construction of the building.

The Commissioner said that the state government will take over the building site as being practiced in the state now, and thanked God for saving the lives of the injured while praying for the souls of the dead to rest in perfect peace.

The Commissioner also visited some of the casualties who were admitted at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi.

One of the injured persons, Mr Collins Akoyi, who said he was in so much pain because of the injuries he sustained, complained that he had not been treated properly by the hospital due to paucity of funds, but requested
the state government to come to their assistance.

Meanwhile the bodies of the dead have been deposited in the morgue.
