The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Sunday Ajayi has called on the citizenry to always see Road Safety measures as a collective responsibility.
He spoke during a public enlightenment programme at Iron and Steel Market Onitsha.
Mr Ajayi, who said that most accidents on the highways are caused by road users, maintained that Road Safety measures should not be left in the hands of Regular and Special Marshals of the agency alone, but
should be the responsibility of all as life has no duplicate.
He emphasized the need for road users to always obey traffic rules as well as keep their vehicles in order, disclosing that the Corps will
soon inaugurate its Ember months safety campaigns.
On his part, the Chairman Iron and Steel Transport Association Onitsha, Prince Ike Anyikwa, while appreciating the efforts of the Corps in ensuring road safety, promised their readiness to partner Federal Road Safety Corps in safeguarding lives.
Contributing, the Chairman of the Drivers Union, Chief Augustine Otti, called for more cordial relationship between road users and the Federal Road Safety Corps for enhanced safety on the highways.
A lecture on speed limit device was delivered during the event.
