Melodrama was witnessed in Awka when the hand of a young man of about twenty five years got stuck in a diesel tank of a vehicle as he was said to be siphoning diesel, without the consent of the car owner.

The event took place at Umudioka Awka, in Awka South council area.


The Ndi Ichie square of Umudioka Awka witnessed a large crowd who gathered to see for themselves if really the hand of the young man whose name was given as Anayo Igwendu really stuck in the tank.

According to information gathered Anayo was seen very early in the morning, struggling to remove his hand from the tank to no avail, until a mechanic loosed the tank from the vehicle, allowing him to move about, hand-in-tank.

Anayo was subsequently, taken to the village hall where they stayed, while seeking for solution.

Unfortunately for him, the owner of the vehicle whose name was given as Onyebuchi demanded some items for sacrifice before he could be freed, but no one was forthcoming with the items since Anayo who hails from Enugu state, has no relation immediately at hand.

As at the time of this report, Anayo was still in front of the village hall carrying his cross.

Speaking on the development, some of the onlookers including messrs Emmanuel Okafor, Ifesinachi Igwebuike and Mr. Ngozi Okeke said that he has met his water loo, alleging that car battery theft and scooping of fuel have become frequent in the area.

They expressed the hope that it will serve as a deterrent to others involved in criminal acts.
