The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Petroleum and other Union Matters, Comrade Peter Nwosu, has advised prospective investors wishing to set up petrol or gas stations within the State to ensure
that they secure necessary approvals from the relevant agencies before embarking on the construction of such stations.
He gave the advice shortly after inspecting an ongoing construction of a petrol station in Oba Idemili South Local government area alongside the Chairman of the State Physical Planning Board, Mr Chike Maduekwe.
Comrade Nwosu frowned at the attitude of some investors who embark on construction of petrol or gas stations upon receiving the approval of the Department of Petroleum Resources DPR, without recourse to relevant government agencies.
This he said has made the State government to demolish petrol stations which fall below the safety requirements aimed at protecting the environment and lives of the citizenry from the hazards associated with  indiscriminate sitting of petrol and gas stations across the State.
The Chairman of the State Physical Planning Board who collaborated the statement reaffirmed that the government will not hesitate to discipline citizens who flout its directives on embarking on some structures without approval.
