The State Internal Revenue Service has announced plans to enroll taxable adults in state into distinctive revenue accounts to transform revenue collection and payments.
The exercise will provide a simple system where taxes accruing to the State Government could be paid from any location in the state.
The Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Dr David Nzekwu disclosed this during a one-day Internally Generated Revenue Technology Integration’ workshop in Awka.
Dr. Nzekwu explained that the essence of the exercise is to improve revenue of the state government.
In a remark, Mr. Victor Okere of Anambra Economic Think Tank identified falsehood on the part of some Internally Generated Revenue collectors, lack of tollgate structure and difficulties in identifying taxpayers as some of the problems facing revenue collection in the state.
He noted that a technology-driven transparent system would serve as a repository and single point of truth for all revenue windows.
Some of the participants made suggestions for data capturing and call number to be designed for Internally Generated Revenue
