Registered voters in the state during the just concluded Continuous Voter Registration Exercise have been advised to visit their polling units for confirmation of their names and other personal information for corrections where  necessary before next week Tuesday .

The call was made during  a sensitization rally organized in Awka and its environ by Kings-Faith Development and Youths Empowerment
Initiative, Justice Development and Peace Caritas, JDPC Awka in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission,
INEC, on the importance of Permanent Voter Cards in the forthcoming general elections.

The road show kicked off at Amawbia roundabout through Eke Awka market, to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka junction and terminated at Aroma Junction axis.

The Executive Director KDYEI, Mr. Kingsley Chukwurah in his speech emphasised the need for people to visit their polling units to make corrections where necessary as INEC has commenced correction of names and other wrong information on the voter register in various polling units in the state, in preparation for   next year’s general elections, pointing out that wrong information could disenfranchise one during the elections.

On his part, the Program Officer, JDPC Awka, Mr. Onyekachi Samuel while describing PVC as the people’s power to choose leaders of their choice, expressed worry over the poor turnout of people at PVCs collection centers , encouraging eligible voters in the state to secure their voter cards in order to be able to vote next year.

ABS also during the exercise gathered that registered Permanent Voter Cards from 2010 to March this year are already out and ready for collection at the three hundred and twenty six wards in the state, while the ones registered from April to October this year would be out by next month.
