Seven in mates of Nigeria Prisons Awka, Onitsha, and Enugu have been granted clemency by Governor Willie Obiano.
The in-mates were set free under the prerogative of mercy which the governor usually exercise during October First Independent Anniversary celebration.
According to a release by the state Attorney- general and Chairman State Advisory Council on prerogative of in –mates Barrister Uju Nwogu, those granted pardon include Chinwike Esimai, Okoye Nweke and Chukwudi Okoye.
Others are Orabusirieze Chikadibia, Chinaecherem Asapuo, Ejike, Chigozie, and Chijioke Amazu.
Most of the detainees who were granted freedom were accused of offences ranging from fraud breaking and entering to stealing.
