Corps Members deployed to the state, have been advised to approach their host communities with open mind and utilize their different skills and talents to accelerate development in the areas.
Governor Willie Obiano who gave the advice during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch C stream one orientation course at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Umunya in Oyi Council Area said these would enable them leave enduring legacies in the state
Addressing the Corps members, Governor Obiano represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu recalled that since inception, NYSC has been a veritable platform for harnessing collective energies and inherent gifts of graduate youths as well as channel for cementing national unity and development.
Governor Obiano charged the Corps members to utilize their intellect, resourcefulness and energy during the service year, listing education, health care delivery, legal aid, agricultural extension, environmental protection and infrastructural development as some of the crucial areas they can render services.
The Governor expressed the state’s readiness to complete the permanent orientation camp at Umuawulu and Mbaukwu before the end of this year assuring them of effective security and welfare throughout their service.
Speaking to newsmen, the State Coordinator, NYSC Anambra, Mr Aremu Kehinde, said that the training and activities were tailored to fine tune the pschye and physique of graduate youth to adapt to the environment and prepare them for national service, explaining that they have shown exemplary resilience and certify them qualified for deployment for primary assignment and community development.
Mr Kehinde stated that they have exposed them to various training and lectures, advising them to uphold the virtues of discipline and patriotism that have been inculcated in them in the orientation course and commended Governor Obiano for his support and provisions for the success of the scheme.
On their parts, Corps members, including Mr Adeyemo Akintayo and Miss Ugochi Ifeanyichukwu expressed happiness for the ceremony and lauded state government for its relentless efforts towards making their stay in the state what while, and promised to be committed and patriotic in discharging their duties.
People who graced the occasion include the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali among other government officials.
The event featured parade in quick, slow and reverse order by the corps members.
